Coach Alesia Gibson was born and reared in Waycross, Georgia. As a high school graduate of Waycross High School, she attended Waycross College and received an Associate of Science Degree in Education. She also holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in General Studies from Armstrong Atlantic State University.  As a lover of learning, Coach Gibson continued her pursuit of knowledge and obtained a Master’s of Science in Post-Secondary Education from Troy State University and an Educational Specialist in Curriculum, Instruction, Management, and Administration from Nova Southeastern University (NOVA).

Coach Gibson began her professional teaching career at Waycross Middle, but she soon transferred to Memorial Drive Elementary School where she taught for three years. However, she returned after three years to where she had started – Waycross Middle School. The 2014-2015 school year marks Coach Gibson’s Twelfth year in the teaching profession. She currently teaches 8th Grade English Language Arts.

 Coach Gibson’s heart is academics, but she also holds a strong passion and desire for athletics! Before starting her professional teaching career, she had held several community and volunteer coaching positions with the Ware County Recreation Department. Her professional coaching career though started in 2002 when she began coaching for the Ware County School System as a community coach. In 2003, she was named head softball coach, 8th grade head girls’ basketball coach, and head girls’ track coach for Waycross Middle School. In 2009, she was named the head girls’ track coach for the Ware County Lady Gators, and in 2010, she was named assistant volleyball coach for the Lady Gators.

Alesia is married to Frank Gibson, and they have four beautiful children, Keith (graduate of Columbus State University), Malorie (LPN, pursing RN Degree from Temple University), Cameron (sophomore, Marist College), and Jeremy, who will attend Valdosta State University in the fall. Frank and Alesia were Blessed with two beautiful granddaughter this past year. They are the proud grandparent of Ava and Zoë. Coach Gibson and her family are active church member of Kingdom Dominion Ministries. Coach Gibson is also a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority. Coach Gibson continues to volunteer her services at the Ware County Recreation Department by serving on the board.
