On Tuesday, Ware County hosted the Area 1-AAAAA Championship at Okefenokee Country Club. The boys tournament was won by Statesboro High School with a score of 321. The girls tournament was won by Veterans High School with a score of 265. The low medalist for the boys tournament from Statesboro High School was Ford Berger with an even par round of 72. The low medalist in the girls tournament from Ware County High School was Sutton Rollins with a score of 79.
The Ware County boys missed qualifying for the state tournament by 1 shot. The Ware County girls finished in 2nd place with a score of 270. The Ware County girls will move on to the GHSA State Championships in Carrollton at Oak Mountain Golf Course. Ware County will send Levi Jewell to compete in the GHSA State Championship in Carrolton at Sunset Hills Country Club. Levi shot a score of 77 to qualify as an individual.
The boys tournament scores were Statesboro High 321, Veterans High 337, Wayne County 340, Ware County 341, Harris County 341, South Effingham 353, Thomas County Central 358, and Bainbridge 434. The girls tournament scores were Veterans High School 265, Ware County High 270, Statesboro 292, Harris County 301, South Effingham 353, Wayne County 368, and Bainbridge 384.
The scores for Ware County boys were: Levi Jewell 77, Fred Windham 79, Coby Eunice 89, Ty Tatum 96, Blake Turner 106, and Dawson Roland 112. The scores for the Ware County girls were: Sutton Rollins 79, Kylee Wheeler 85, Lauren Callahan 106, and Grace Link 114.
Levi Jewell tees off at the Region Golf Tournamenet. Jewell's 77 was good enough to send him to the State Golf Tournament later this month.
