The Ware County Lady Gator Basketball Team improved their record to 9-0 on the season as the defeated Tatnall County 42-29 in round one of the Vidalia Christmas Tournament. Ware trailed after the first quarter 8-5 but bounced back to take a slim 16-13 lead into the half. The Lady Gators shot just 36% from the field however 28 points came from inside the paint where the girls made the difference. Ware outscored Tatnall 11-10 in the third but rallied in the fourth to seal their 9th consectutive victory on the season and remain undefeated.
Junior Shondell Vickers poured in 14 points and hauled in 13 rebounds to dominate under the rim. Mataea Boyd added 9 points while Arviniece McDonald, Rodniqua Davis and Kennedy Sanders added 4 points each. Others scoring for the Lady Gators included Lizzie Shubert, Chyna Bacon and Wayneshia Coleman with 2 and Kelsey Davis with one point.
The Lady Gators will travel back to Vidalia today at 6:30 to take on Vidalia in round two.
