Even the rain, couldn't stop the young athletes from competing in the 1st Annual Mini Swamp Relays. This year, we allowed the kids to represent their school or recreation department. Team trophies and individual medals were given to the top 3 finishers. In the recreation division, the winners was as followed; 1st Place Camden County, 2ndPlace Ware County, and 3rd Place Coffee County. We also had a few kids from Appling County that competed in the unattached division. In the elementary school division, Memorial drive had the most kids to compete, followed by Williams Heights, then Center Elementary. Medals were given to the top 3 in their event as well. However, Memorial Drive kids received a medal and a Mini Relay shirt for having the most participants in the school division. On Saturday, the Ware County Recreation Track Team members will be competing for the district championship. They will travel over to Camden County for this event. "We are striving to get more kids involved with track & field," said Coach Alesia Gibson. "We would like to thank all the coaches and volunteers for helping this meet to be a success." "Also, I would like to give a shout out to Mr. Bert Smith, principal of Ware County High School, for coming out to support this special events, said Coach Gibson.
