Yesterday, the GHSA Region 2-AAAAA Track and Field Championship Finals were held at Ware County High School. In the girls' division, the Statesboro High Lady Blue Devils were crowned Region Champs, while the Lady Gators clinched the title of GHSA Region Runner-up. In 2014, the Lady Gators made school history by winning their first ever GHSA Region Title. Yesterday, the Ware County Gators made history by winning their first GHSA Region Title. The Lady Gators would like to congratulate the boy's team on their win. "The girls competed hard, but we fail short of achieving our goal as Region Champs," said Head Coach Alesia Gibson. "Several of the girls left everything they had on the track, and several young ladies set personal records (PR). Several Lady Gators will be moving on to compete in the Sectionals. All the athletes that finished in the top 4, will be traveling to McDonough, GA to compete in the sectionals. From there, the top 8 will advance to the GHSA Track & Field State Finals, which will be held in Carrollton, GA on May 11th through the 13th.
