The Ware County Gators dropped a tough region soccer match to South Effingham Thursday by a final of 5-0.
South Effingham took advantage of two early mistakes by Ware, and were able to take a 2-0 lead within the first 10 minutes of the match. Ware settled in, and a battled on level terms with South Effingham for the rest of the half, conceding a goal with only 30 seconds left in the half, to go in down 3-0.
Ware came out and continued to play much better, creating some scoring opportunities, but not being able to convert. The match went back and forth for the first 20 minutes of the second half. South Effingham was able to score on a quick counter attack with 20 minutes left, and then with 14 minutes left, they were able to add their 5th on another counter attack.
Ware will be home next week, with another important region match on Tuesday against Wayne County, and then on Thursday, Ware will host Pierce.
