Gators Blast New Hampstead on the Road 6-2

The Ware County Gators traveled to New Hampstead High near Savannah, and came away with an important 6-2 win in the region opener. New Hampstead would play tough throughout the first half, taking a 1-0 lead only 3 minutes into the match. Ware would quickly answer, with Julio Nataren gathering an assist from Harold Guardado, and chipping it in over the keeper, tying the match at 1-1. 30 minutes into the first half, New Hampstead would take advantage of a defensive mistake by Ware to take a 2-1 lead. Ware again answered, with only 2 minutes left in the first half, when Yerlin Guardado collected an accurate through ball from Nataren, and beat the keeper to tie the match at 2-2. Ware dominated the second half.

After creating a number of attempts, but not scoring, Ware opened the second half scoring when Yerlin Guardado passed to Julio Nataren, who beat the keeper 20 minutes into the second half. Ware then would add 3 more goals in the last 7 minutes, to put the game away, Nataren scoring on a volley from a corner kick, Yerlin Guardado converting on a penalty kick, and Yerlin Guardado taking advantage of a misplayed backpass to the Hampstead keeper and scoring in an empty net.

Ware's next match will be a non region home match against Valdosta High on Tuesday, 3/7. This will also be Future Gator night.
